AMENDED AND ADDITIONAL DOCK RULES
Approved by the General Membership, March 2012
1. All boats, dinghies, trailers and outboard boats, etc. affected by these rules must be the property of Freeport Yacht Club Members. A member’s child, who is 22 years or older and not a member of the Yacht Club, cannot keep a boat and/or trailer at the oval or in a slip.
2. Maintenance of the dock area, including replacement of deteriorated dock planks, finger piers and walkways shall be the responsibility of each slip holder. J Materials for such maintenance will be ordered and provided by the Club
3. The docks will be kept clear of any unauthorized items in order to maintain freedom of movement by pedestrians- no tables, chairs, grills, bicycles, skateboards, etc.
4. Dock boxes between 72" and 76" long and 24" and 28"deep and 24" and 28"high may be placed at the new bulkhead. The dock box must be white and be raised no morel 1/2" off the dock.
5. Every boat owner must keep the space behind his boat clear of refuse. Use the receptacles provided for same. DO NOT THROW ANYTHING OVERBOARD! Members are specifically forbidden from disposing of waste motor oil in the dumpsters or by pouring it onto the ground.
6. No additions, attachments, replacements or alterations of any portion of the dock, spiles, water system, electrical systems, or any area immediately adjacent to the docks can be made without specific permission. Any proposal for such change must be submitted of the Fleet Captain, who will refer the request to the appropriate Committee Chairman. The proposal will be screened for usefulness, appearance, quality of work and materials, and safety before permission will be granted. Any improvements made shall become the property of the FREEPORT Yacht Club .
7. The Standard Boat Owner Identification Sign that identifies each slip must be the Club-approved version. No other sign is acceptable. Placement of these signs is under the supervision of the Fleet Captain.
8. Every slip holder must keep the area behind his boat clear of refuse and must keep the grass and weeds cut. In the event that a slip holder fails to comply, the Fleet Captain may have the grass and weeds but behind the slip holder’s boat at a fee to be established by the Board of Directors. The fee shall be added to the slip holder’s next bill for slip rental.
9. A dinghy may be stored behind the slip on a rack provided by the slip holder.
10. Members’ guests’ cars must NOT be parked at the dock barrier. Guests’ cars shall be parked at the oval or at the back fence only.
11. Air-conditioning and heaters are not to be in operation unless the owner is on board or ashore for a short period of time, except as noted in the winter storage rules.
12. No members shall use his boat for commercial purposes such as charter fishing parties, etc., while operating for the Freeport Yacht Club.
13. Boats and/ or trailers may be accommodated in the oval in accordance with instructions and seasonal rates set the Board of Directors.
14. All hoses must be used with a shut-off nozzle.
15. Members are expected to report violations and any dangerous conditions to the Fleet Captain.
16. Regards to tent ownership A.) All tents must be in the tan or beige color range. B.) Tent size must not exceed the deck space you are allotted.
17. The members are required to keep walkways free and clear of obstruction.
18. Walkways from the parking lot to the dock will be opposite the finger pier. The walkways to the dock and access to the floating docks will be kept clear for everyone’s use.
19. Nothing will be placed on top of the raised bulkhead do to the possibility of items falling overboard with the exception of a well secured hose reel.
20. Deck will be level with the dock.
21. Fences are not permitted on decks unless necessary and approved by the Board of Directors.
22. All canopies will be of the Club approved type and may not pass over walkways or exceed your deck area.
23. No furniture, cabinets, or appliances will be higher than 36” above the deck with the possible exception of chair backs or grill lids.
24. Only one well maintained 20lb. Propane tank may be stored on a patio.
25. Nothing will be stored in the parking lot, on the dock, or on the walkways without approval of the Board.
26. Anyone wishing to use an unoccupied deck may do so at an annual rate established by the Board of Directors.
27. Each slip holder is allowed a total of 1 dock box, 1 refrigerator and 1 BBQ on their deck and dock area.
28. No gasoline tanks of any kind may be stored on a deck.
29. No open wood fires allowed on the dock or deck.
30. All dogs must be leashed when on the dock and deck areas.
Members violating these dock rules are subject to a $50 fine if not corrected within 10 days after notification and an additional $50 for each additional 10 days of non-compliance.

RULES GOVERNING USE OF THE OVAL BUILDING

1. The building will be closed for cleaning from 11: to 12:00 noon every Monday and Friday

2. Every member or guest using facilities is required to clean up after Use.

3. No personal items are to be left in the rooms.

4. No more than two persons are to occupy either end of the building at any one time.

5. No loitering or horseplay will be permitted. Members are responsible for the behavior of their children and/ or guests.

6. The building will be open from April 1 to October 31 and closed during the winter to prevent the freezing of pipes.

7. The building is under the jurisdiction of the House Chairman. All complaints to inquires as to use are to be directed to him.


WINTER STORAGE RULES

1. For purposes of these rules, the winter season shall be defined as the period from November 1st to April 1st.

2. Slip holders with I/O’s or O/B’s up to 30 feet may store their boats in the oval during the winter months at no additional charge.

3. Wiring on board and feeder cable must be the proper size to carry the required current. All circuits must be protected with a proper fuse or circuit breaker on the boat.

4. All electric heaters must be equipped with a thermostat and overload relay.

5. Winter covers, frames and deicing equipment must be removed by the slip occupant from his boat by May 1st unless the owner, for reasons of health or other acceptable cause is unable to do so.

6. Each slip holder shall provide ice protection for the slip he is assigned.

7. All boats must be removed from the oval by May 10th, if not a daily penalty will be issued to the member.
